I was recently asked to paint the current Spurs 3rd kit. I jumped at the chance! I was asked to try and make the subbuteo figures look like the actual players as best I could. Can you spot Gareth Bale?

The latest request for a team was for a Sheffield United kit from the 70's.
Whilst the kit is a fairly simple design, painting the red and black stripes so close together was very tricky. I got a shaky hand on a couple of occasions whilst painting this one!

Combining football with a war film, that's genius! There is one film (loosely) based on football that, for me, stands out above the rest; Escape to Victory. Not only does it have Michael Caine and Sly Stallone, it also has real footballers! Bobby Moore, Ossie Ardiles, Pele and John Wark (!!!???!!! what???????).

I haven't done much painting throughout the past month; I've been far too busy winning the double in my local subbuteo league (league and cup!)
I realised I'm only about half way through painting up the required teams, so I've had a bit of a mad flick of the paintbrush to try and get a few more teams done before our tournament at the end of May.

To celebrate Euro 2012, I'm going to be holding a subbuteo tournament at my local club. Rather than painting up the current kits for the 16 nations, I've decided to paint the shirts as the national flags and do the rest of the kits in traditional colours.

I appreciate I'm a bit behind the times in painting this up, but better late than never!
I really like this kit; the yellow, white and blue combination works really well. Hopefully the painting has done it justice. Getting the club badge and the stars and stripes patch to resemble the actual badges was quite tricky on such a small scale, not all detail could fit on. It looks ok though and gives a good enough impression of the team badges.
